This is truly frustrating, frightening, and we need to do better. We need to pull our kids away from screens, we need to get them spending more time outside, reading books, writing, talking, thinking, exploring, and playing.
Video games, tv, movies, social media are all not effective tools for childhood development. The more these tech companies try to convince us and explain the benefits, the more cautious and leery we should be because at the end of the day, it’s all about the bottom line and eyeballs for them – the more attention and screen time they get, the more they win as a business, and the more we lose as humans.
It’s especially important for us to get kids away from screens as their brains are still developing (from “Glow Kids“) and truly the only benefit of playing video games is that kids get better at playing video games.
